This June, Tiny Toes Ballet will be holding a special ballet class titled “Teddy Bear’s Picnic” to raise money for the Westmead Children’s Hospital Bandaged Bear Appeal.
By donating to the Bandaged Bear Appeal, our parents will be helping kids from around NSW to be treated at Westmead Children’s Hospital.
why support westmead children’s hospital bandaged bear appeal?
The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is the largest paediatric centre in NSW specialising in treating seriously ill children.
Westmead Children’s Hospital provides specialist care for children, community education, advocacy for improved child health and ground-breaking research into childhood illnesses.
Founded in 1880, Westmead Children’s Hospital is a public hospital, with 4,467 staff across 150 departments looking after more than 80,000 sick children and their families each year.
This includes around 32,000 inpatient admissions, 57,000 emergency department presentations and more than 886,000 outpatient visits.
The hospital is home to the NSW Paediatric Burns Unit, the Paediatric Liver Transplant Unit, the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance, the NSW Newborn Screening Service and National Poisons Information Centre, as well as the first Paediatric Tumour Bank in the southern hemisphere.
End-of-life and respite care for seriously ill children is provided by Bear Cottage, the only children’s hospice in NSW.
Research is one of the key ways in which the hospital provides the highest standard of care to sick children and their families. Kids Research leads research into childhood diseases, resulting in significant advances in the treatment of cancer, obesity, kidney, heart and respiratory illnesses, diabetes and muscular dystrophy.
Funded by the NSW Government, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead provides significant extra services thanks to the generosity of individual and corporate donors.
Please donate generously during the week of Monday 17th June 2024 up to and including Saturday 22nd June 2024 and don’t forget to bring a teddy bear to class!
